Yes, God gave us free will. But He also gave us a brain to think and reason with. It seems that there are just too many people who 'think' they get to make their own rules. That they are somehow more superior to the rest of us. Not sure where they got this idea.
When I hear people who claim to be the 'ultimate Christian' and then see them using such derogatory terms such as (forgive me for even putting these words out there) queer, fag, niger, whore etc. I just truly wonder what makes them think this is ok. Have they forgotten that Jesus taught us to love our neighbor as our selves? Have they forgotten that words hurt deep? Tonight I watched a guy ridicule another guy by yelling "faaaaaaat, faaaaaat, faaaaaat" while this guy was working to make himself healthier by exercising. What the f...! What gave him the right to belittle this man? He certainly could have been in the same shoes except rather than being fat he appeared to be homeless. How would he have felt if the tables had been turned? Should we call him lazy, useless, no good? Of course not! That's NOT what Jesus would have us do. Jesus would say 'love that man with all your heart because he needs it more than you know.'
There is just such injustice in this world today. No wonder people have a hard time believing. No wonder there is such pain the world. I can certainly understand why some people would turn their backs on Christianity. I mean, why should they do everything they can to be what Christ wants them to be when they are berated and flogged for being a believer and doing the right thing.
I know a man, who I felt was honest, hard working, and fair. But discovered tonight that he's one of those 'I'll be a Christian they way I want to be' people. It made me very sad to hear his sister say that not only do they not get along, but she won't go around him because of his bigoted attitude. She called him on it one day and that was the end of their relationship. Good for her! How many of the rest of us are willing to stand up and be defenders of justice?
Justice, that's another one. What exactly is justice? Is it making sure criminals are prosecuted and put in jail? Is it coming down hard on the young man who walks out of the bar holding a beer? Is it fighting a war that you may never win? Is it hoping someone who has done you wrong gets theirs? How does the husband or wife whose partner has had an affair view justice? How does the woman who loses a child view justice? Is it all about revenge? Is it about walking away?
Every day we can look at life as if it sucks and will never be good. Or we can look at life and say 'hey, God me one more day to make a difference. It won't be easy but He is with me.'
So in the end, yes, God gave us free will but not free to be stupid. Take the blinders off. You can be stupid if you choose, but don't think you're gonna spread it to the rest of us cause we're gonna stand up to you, we're gonna call you on it. Justice is not letting you win. Justice is making sure Jesus wins.
So you choose, free will to do what is right or free to be stupid.
